How to detect and repair bathroom leaks - Andy Bell of Handyman Matters and a representative from American Leak Detection shows us how to find a mysterious bathroom leak. Damaged baseboards in a basement bathroom indicate that there is a leak somewhere in that room, but the damage is so generalized that investigative work is needed to find the source. Possibilities include the drain system, shower, and the toilet, so domestic water supply pressure test is first applied, testing the water system of entire house. Once a pressurized leak is found inside the home, an electronic tool is used to identify where leak is coming from. Noise from valve shows the source of leak - a small amount of water coming through valve that is no longer water tight. The tub structure was also tested and using red dye, a leak was detected in the shower pan, coming from around a gasket.
